Fairtrade And Sustainable Development Goals

Fairtrade And Sustainable Development Goals

For over three decades, Fairtrade has enabled fairer deals for farmers and workers in developing countries. Fairtrade is a significant driver of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aims to inspire collective action to achive the SDGs.

The 17 SDGs – adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 – are an ambitious set of global goals to combat poverty and achieve sustainable development by 2030. All of the issues in the SDGs are ambitious, urgent, and interconnected. Nearly all the 169 targets which underpin the global goals have some correlation to food and farming.

The Fairtrade India Schools Programme is funded by the Switch Asia Programme of the European Union that remains committed to enhance learning and curriculum to understand the SDGs and the role we all have to play in making the world more fair and equal.

Let’s work together to ensure the SDGs will enable inclusive development through trade that benefits farmers and workers, consumers, businesses and societies.
